Suzy Moger is a painter and printmaker working in West Dorset in the UK.
Her current paintings are the product of nearly 20 years’ development, representing a surfacing of style and form derived from a lifetime spent near the coast.
Her prolific practice channels a wellspring of immediacy, hazing the borders between contemporary landscape and abstract expressionism, framed by the self-imposed discipline of a limited palette.
Suzy has a selection of work available for purchase, if you see something you like, please do get in touch via the contact page. Alternatively there is a store with a limited selection or her Etsy shop with a wide selection.
Bad Dog Paintings
Different signs and symbols, as a way of communicating through an image, have played a part in the development of these paintings. They began as a response to a set of symbols known as the ‘Hobo Code’ which was used during the Great Depression in the United States as a way to Indicate to fellow travellers how they may be received at a particular home or establishment. There were symbols to warn of dangers and to offer help if, for example, a traveller was likely to encounter a sympathetic homeowner or the chance of work or food.
These signs were a starting point for this series of paintings which explore a variety of reactions to the ideas behind the symbols. The Bad Dog paintings have grown beyond the original symbols and represent a kind of psychological ‘bad dog’.
This image is Bad Dog i. The series is ongoing.

If you have any questions regarding the commissioning of a painting please get in touch.
We came across Suzy’s work by chance when we were looking for a special piece to mark our first Christmas in our new family home. From the moment we first contacted her I knew that the end result was going to be magical. She was so helpful in guiding us on the size of the commission and showed real passion about a location (The Channel Islands) that means so much to us. The communication throughout was wonderful and we loved the regular updates of her work in progress. We are totally in love with our painting. You can’t help but get lost in the depth of the colours and texture of the sea.

"Suzy’s paintings are big and bold, full of colour, texture and energy. I loved one of them on sight, but it was just a little too big for my chimney breast, so I contacted Suzy and she was happy to paint something similar just for me on a 30” x 40” canvas. A month later, my painting arrived by courier. Couldn’t be happier! Suzy was enthusiastic and professional throughout, keeping me updated on her progress. A very talented lady. Thank you!"
